Jamie is a director in the real estate team and heads up the national capital allowances service.
BDO add value by identifying tax savings on the acquisition of property and the refurbishment/development of sites including negotiation with HMRC. Varying levels of services apply, from advising on the levels of allowances available to a perspective bidder or purchaser (to enable their bid to be enhanced by factoring the tax savings available), to also advising on the types of M&E kit being installed into buildings that meet the performance requirements at no extra cost but accelerate the tax savings from being recovered over a number of years to being fully recovered in the first year.
Jamie previously worked as a Quantity Surveyor for Davis Langdon & Everest before specialising in Capital Allowances with a big 4 accountancy firm. Before joining BDO Jamie spent the last 9 years as a Partner of an international surveying practice heading up their capital allowances services.
Experience includes Plant and Machinery, Enhanced Capital Allowances, Business Premises Renovation Allowances and Land Remediation Relief claims for various sectors including commercial, retail, industrial, residential, healthcare, student accommodation, leisure and large mixed use schemes. Career highlights include the £750m Bull Ring redevelopment Birmingham, Xscape Milton Keynes, Vodafone’s property portfolio and Dixons Stores Group.
BDO is the 5th largest global accountancy practice. BDO UK has 23 offices and over 3,500 staff.
