Simon Millar

Simon Millar

Consultant, Lockton Real Estate & Construction

Simon started his career in 1990 at Great Portland Estates plc, where he worked for eight years rising to be Insurance Manager. During that time he developed a close understanding of client side issues, and had to deal with significant claims resulting from the Baltic Exchange and Bishopsgate bombings.

Taking this property experience into the world of insurance broking in 1999, he has developed a loyal and diverse client base within the property and construction sectors, including Big Yellow plc, New River Retail plc, Exemplar and Battersea Power Station. Simon stepped down as a Director in the Real Estate & Construction Division of Lockton, the largest independently owned insurance brokerage in the world, but still retains a consultancy role, revolving around client relationship management and business development. He sees himself as a property man who does insurance, rather than the other way around, which allows him to strongly represent his client’s interests to underwriters.

Outside of Lockton, Simon is married with two daughters, and is heavily involved with Rugby Union, both as an increasingly occasional player and administrator with Huntingdon Rugby Club and East Midlands Rugby Union. He is also on the Court of Assistants of the Worshipful Company of Feltmakers, Sales Director (Events) at the Completely Group promoting the hugely successful and award winning Completely Retail Marketplace events around Europe, and the Managing Director of The Rugby Club of London, a virtual rugby club putting on lunches, dinners and other rugby related events. He also recently has taken a role advising on, and helping to populate, a new commercial property portal, The Landsite

Simon is a founding board member of the Monopoly Network.
